About The New Story Fund
Launched in 2009, the New Story Fund is designed to help families throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania pay for goods and services they need to care for their children with special needs when other financial support is not readily available. The Fund is designed to help children who are faced with the following challenges: autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional support needs, mental retardation or other developmental disabilities.
New Story created the Fund to reinforce its commitment to the communities in which it serves by awarding a total of $50,000 ($25,000 twice a year) to families in need. Members of the community are encouraged to submit an application themselves, or nominate a family in need. Individual awards, up to $1,500 per family, will be paid directly to the service or equipment provider of their choice. Examples include durable medical equipment, therapy services, prescriptions, after-school care, camp tuition, among many others.
There are two nomination periods per calendar year – January 1 through January 31 and July 1 through July 31st. Awards will be announced by April 1 and October 1 respectively. During the fund nomination period, the application to the New Story Fund is available here.
