CHANGE NAME TO “NEW STORY”

-- Nominations Now Open for The “New Story Fund” --

PENNSYLVANIA – December 10, 2009 – Milestones Achievement Centers (MAC) and Milestones Community Healthcare – the leading providers of private schools and services designed to help children with the most serious and complex behavioral and educational challenges live good lives – announced today that they have changed their name to New Story (www.newstory.com).  The name, New Story, better communicates how the organization helps children and families create new stories of growth and success.  New Story schools and New Story services will continue to provide the same individualized educational programs and behavioral supports as they have under the MAC and Milestones Community Healthcare names.

Coinciding with its name change, the organization is launching the “New Story Fund,” which will grant up to $50,000 each year to help families living in Pennsylvania pay for goods and services they need to care for their children with special needs when other financial support is not readily available.

“I am extremely proud to announce our new name, New Story, as it clearly and concisely articulates what we do and who we are – helping children and their families create new stories of success and live good lives,” commented Paul Volosov, founder and president of New Story.  “Many children come to us with negative experiences and stories of despair from their past.   We focus on what is good and give parents hope for their children’s futures.  We work to change the lives of children who are diagnosed with autism, have experienced emotional trauma or face other educational and behavioral issues and help them achieve a quality of life they never thought possible.”

New Story’s re-branding and name change efforts incorporate many elements, including a new logo, signage, brochure, video and a completely re-designed website – www.newstory.com.

The unveiling of the re-branding and name change will take place at each of the nine school locations throughout the PA region, coinciding with their holiday celebration events.  Students will perform the “New Story School Song” at the unveiling events.  The song reinforces what New Story stands for and provides a sense of school pride and unity for the students.

Along with its name change, New Story created the “New Story Fund” to reinforce its commitment to the local communities it supports.  The Fund is designed to help children and families who are faced with the following challenges: autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional support needs, mental retardation or other developmental disabilities.  The “New Story Fund” will help families throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania who don’t have the funds to access goods and services needed to best support their children.  Examples include durable medical equipment, therapy services, prescriptions, after-school care, camp tuition, among many others.

“We want to be a resource to families in our local communities and help them create new stories – just as we do for those directly involved with the New Story family,” continued Paul Volosov.  “By providing the means to purchase the goods or services they need most, we are giving families the opportunity to focus on what is important, the happiness and welfare of their children.”

Nominations for the “New Story Fund” are now open and will run through March 30, 2010.   Grants up to $25,000 will be given out twice a year to those who are selected within the designated nomination period and who meet the criteria.  Each applicant can be granted up to $1,500.  To learn more about the “New Story Fund,” or to nominate a family in need visit www.newstory.com/fund.
